CASA coordinates the work of citizen-volunteers who advocate in court on behalf of children who have been neglected or abused. The ultimate goal is to ensure that children are successfully placed in caring permanent homes.
CASA’s activities extend to supplying holiday gifts to foster children and organizing fun days out. In June, 2014, CASA of Northwest Arkansas teamed up with the national organization in passing out thousands of toys in an afternoon of fun with Toy Industry Foundation sponsorship. The event was described by the National CASA Strategic Giving Director as bringing “a lot of hope and joy” to children who had experienced tough lives. The play date demonstrated that the community cared about the foster children and was supporting their efforts to build new, positive lives.
